Meet Our Leaders

Rev. Mark Lipscomb, Senior Pastor

Pastor Mark is originally from Battle Creek, Michigan, but has pastored at Pathway in Saranac (once West Berlin Wesleyan Church) since 2000.   He has been in the ministry since pastoring his first church in 1984.  Pastor Mark has served churches in Michigan and Indiana.  Mark and his wife, Ellen, have been married for over 40 years.  They have three grown children and four grandchildren. In his free time, Mark enjoys "hands-on" hobbies such as electrical work and woodworking.   He also likes to spend time near the water, especially Lake Michigan.   Pastor Mark's greatest joy in serving the church is "having a front row seat in watching God transform lives through Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit."

Terra Penninga, Assistant Pastor

Terra grew up in Southern Illinois and moved to West Michigan after graduating from Southern Illinois University in 2004. Terra has been with Pathway Church since 2016.  Even though she attended church in childhood, she didn't decide to fully follow Christ until she was in her late teens.   After several years of working in lawncare and landscaping, Terra decided to pursue full-time ministry.  She currently holds her Licensed Minister credentials through The Wesleyan Church, and is in the process of fulfilling ordination requirements.  Terra's favorite part of ministry is seeing people grow in their faith and watching them experience freedom as they walk with Jesus Christ.

Terra lives in Saranac with her husband, Andy, who is a crop and cattle farmer.   Andy and Terra have two children.  When she's not working, she enjoys finding non-mainstream music to enjoy, working on do-it-yourself home projects, and mowing the lawn!

Kim Paton, Worship Director

Kim has been involved in ministry in several churches and in multiple denominations over the last two decades. Kim enjoys worship in every context.  She is a proponent of an entire lifestyle of sacrificial worship to God, and believes worship is much more than just singing a few songs on a Sunday morning. In addition to directing worship on Sunday mornings, Kim is the co-creator of Women of Grace, our local Women's Ministry.  She holds a Master's Degree and LLC in Educational Counseling from Western Michigan University.

Kim and her husband have been married since 1995 and have three sons.  Ministering to all age groups - young children, teens, and adults - one of Kim's favorite parts of ministry is watching the Word of God (the Bible) transform people's hearts and minds, totally changing their lives!

Rev. Kevin Fletcher, Pastor of Youth Ministries

Pastor Kevin was born and raised in Oklahoma, where he and his wife Michelle were married just a few weeks after graduating high school.  Kevin attended Oklahoma Wesleyan University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Ministry with a minor in Youth Ministry.  Kevin and Michelle moved to Michigan in 2004 for their first ministry assignment.   Over the last 15 years, they've ministered in Michigan, Kansas, Colorado, and now back in Michigan!  Kevin's favorite part of ministry is watching believers of all ages grow in their walk with Christ.  He enjoys working with the teens and helping them focus on Jesus while so many other things are fighting for their attention.   Kevin also works with a local company servicing and installing gas fireplaces.  He and Michelle live in Ionia with their four children.

Brendon Lake, Director of Children's Ministries

Brendon grew up in the Saranac area and has lived here for most of his life.  Brendon has been attending Pathway since 2015 along with his wife Becky and 3 children; Olivia, Emmett and Eric.  He accepted the gift of salvation as a teenager during an overnight youth event after he was invited by a good friend.  It was an awesome experience and the foundation of his relationship with Jesus.  Brendon continues to further his relationship with Jesus every day.

Brendon's biggest desire in ministry is to help children see their true identity in Christ.

Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
